Intern

Seth Parker is currently completing his Marriage, Couples, and Family Counseling program at Western Michigan University. Before entering the world of counseling, Seth’s journey took him through two decades working with his hands. The majority of those years were spent as a residential painter, along with a few as a carpenter. Along the way he happened to spend a couple years in the green foothills of Vermont as a gardener. This is where he first seriously considered the possibility of higher education.

Since then, he has returned to Michigan, opting to complete a certificate in massage he has never used professionally in lieu of heading straight into higher education. Then moved here to Kzoo in 2021 to finish his undergrad in strategic communication. For the last few years, he has been studying Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy through reading and practicing with a few of his closest people. He plans to utilize tools from IFS with a humanistic approach as the foundation for his work supplemented by mindfulness practices such as breathwork, movement, and authentic relating games to create a holistic and grounded approach to healing.

Seth sees himself as warm and approachable, with a knack for sprinkling in sarcasm when the moment calls for it and leaning into seriousness when the conversation turns deep. He believes that every moment is an opportunity for healing, and that every person we meet can reflect something valuable back to us—whether it’s a tender truth, a hidden strength, or a challenge worth facing.

He is passionate about working with people pleasers, over-workers, and survivors of sexual assault. Seth offers a compassionate space where curiosity and self-discovery light the way. He’s familiar with what it’s like to crawl down into a cave and won’t hesitate to join anyone in theirs, if given an invitation. His goal is simple, to meet clients where they are and help them explore their inner and outer relational landscapes.

An avid climber and photographer, Seth finds inspiration in the metaphors life offers—like switching camera lenses to see things from a new angle. Whether scaling a rock face or reframing a life challenge, he approaches each moment with openness and an eye for the bigger picture.
