Intern

Emmett Lincoln (he/him) is an intern at Kalamazoo Therapy Group and a graduate student working on a master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy at National University. He has a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Western Michigan University.

Emmett approaches therapy as a partnership between therapist and client. He believes he brings knowledge and expertise of the healing process, and the client is the expert of themselves. He believes what works for one may not work for another and is committed to helping his clients find solutions that fit their lives and circumstances. He works to create a safe space of empathy and compassion that fosters hope for change.

He believes how a person tells their story reveals existing strengths and opportunities for growth. He works with his clients to find new perspectives, learn valuable skills, and leverage strengths that provide the bricks that pave the way to lasting change and healing.

Emmett is openly transgender and is passionate about providing affirmative trauma-informed care to the LGBTQIA+ community. He recognizes that to be part of this community is to experience some form of oppression and trauma. He’s committed to helping queer individuals, couples, and families navigate the unique struggles that come with being LGBTQIA+.

Emmett is supervised by Miranda Hosbein, LMFT.
