Intern

Bree is an intern pursuing a master’s in counseling from Saybrook University. She has a BA in Holistic Health and Family & Women’s Studies from The Evergreen State College and has worked for the past twenty-five years as an early childhood and parent educator. Bree has additional education and experience in post-partum doula work, animism, ritual, ancestral healing, civil mediation, and racial analysis.
Bree’s therapeutic approach is grounded, clear, warm, and genuine. She believes that her clients are the ultimate authority in their own lives and seeks to support everyone’s own inner knowing. Bree feels that, as relational beings, our best chance at feeling successful and satisfied comes through connections made with others. That connection building is a focus of Bree’s approach and begins in counseling through the mutual respect and positive regard exchanged in the therapeutic relationship. She is committed to fostering an environment in which clients feel comfortable, supported, and able to be themselves through life’s joys and hardest parts.
The belief that all beings possess unique gifts to be shared with the world is at the root of Bree’s work. Since childhood, she has been interested in and devoted herself to lovingly supporting development. To her, the work of supporting individuals is the work of supporting communities and our world. In this way, Bree believes that counseling is a political act. By fostering connection and wholeness within us we can share ourselves more fully in our relationships and communities, creating a more connected and whole world.
Bree invites this connection to self through dialog, creative expression, and somatics/ body awareness. Clients can expect Bree to be a collaborator, joining them in exploring strengths, goals, needs, and strategies that best support their own unique selves. Such exploration may include verbal and nonverbal expression, research-based intervention tools, and client-led inquiry. Bree is most passionate about supporting clients through life-stage changes, grief and gender, sexuality, spiritual and racial development.
