Katherine Gill is a Limited Licensed Counselor (previously Limited Licensed Professional Counselor) and a National Certified Counselor. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Rehabilitation Services from Wright State University and a Master of Science in Clinical Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling from The University of Pittsburgh.

Katherine is a holistic-minded therapist that recognizes and understands that life can consist of many different factors that influence our overall mental, emotional, and spiritual health. This can include the relationships we have with ourselves, our relationships with others, and social, political, and economic systems. She see’s therapy as a space to challenge thought patterns, engage in self-reflection, and explore the perfectly imperfect nature of being human. She strives to assist her clients in recognizing blocks to their growth and experiencing aspects of the self that have been denied or distorted. She views counseling as a space that enables clients to move towards openness, self-trust, and an increased sense of aliveness, authenticity, and fulfillment. She also helps clients gain insight into how their values, beliefs, and past experiences influence thought patterns, relational dynamics, and the way they interact with their internal and external world.

Katherine views her role in therapy as an instrument of change by approaching the client on a person-to-person level. She provides a non-judgmental, compassionate, and authentic therapy space that is conducive to growth and healing. She views the client as the expert of their own story and believes that all clients have the capacity to fulfill their own potential. She enjoys acting as a cheerleader, providing encouragement, and working collaboratively alongside clients to work towards realistic, clear, observable goals.

Katherine has clinical experience providing individual and group counseling to individuals age 18-65+. Before coming to Kalamazoo Therapy Group, she worked as an addictions therapist at an outpatient clinic for 4.5 years. During her time there, she worked with a wide range of issues and concerns that include but are not limited to: grief and loss, women’s issues, substance abuse, dual-diagnosis, codependency and self-esteem, relationship conflict, mood disorders, life transitions, suicidality, trauma, and depression and anxiety.

Katherine especially enjoys working with individuals experiencing grief and loss, women’s issues, and depression and anxiety.
