Carlye is a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. She has her master’s degree in marriage, couple, and family counseling from Western Michigan University. She completed Level 1 and Level 2 Training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy. Before her work as a therapist, Carlye worked on an inpatient psychiatric unit for four years. She began her sex therapy training at the University of Michigan in April 2022.
Carlye understands that life can be complicated and made up of many experiences and unique relationships. Therapy provides an opportunity to reflect on and develop our needs and desires in relationships we have with others and ourselves. Her role in the therapy is a teammate, helping clients meet goals and make changes through providing knowledge, insight, skills, and feedback in a solution-focused way. She provides the time and space for clients to work toward the person they want to be while incorporating their values. She works with her clients to develop an understanding of their emotions through self-exploration.
She specializes in relationship counseling while working with individuals or couples to help them identify and communicate their needs and expectations. The therapeutic process can assist in improving and strengthening certain aspects in the relationship by developing positive communication skills and building new ways to reconnect. Another direction of therapy is helping clients explore if they would like to continue the relationship or use the therapeutic space as a way to separate in a respectful manner.
Carlye is passionate about working with couples, and understands that relationships impact everything. For that reason, Carlye enjoys reflecting on relationships when working with individuals experiencing life transitions and relationship-related issues with romantic partners, friends, coworkers, etc. Whether in a couples or individual setting, the counseling often highlights improving self-awareness through self-reflection, communication, boundary setting skills, and emotional understanding with the goal of improving your relationship with yourself and others.
