SUMMARY:Tending Grief: A community space to hold\, process\, and heal
DESCRIPTION:Grief has a powerful way of unsettling us—shaking emotions to the surface\, shaping how we experience our world. We invite you to join us on the third Tuesday of each month for a supportive space to gather in community. Together\, we will honor the many forms of loss that may arise\, whether that is: \n\nThe death of a loved one\nDivorce or end of a significant relationship\nLiving with a chronic illness\nLoss of a job\, role\, or meaningful activity that shaped your identity\nReleasing a vision or dream you’ve held\nSorry for suffering in the wider world\nSomething else entirely\n\nThis group offers space to witness\, share\, and gently tend to grief in all its forms. \nDetails\n\nWho: Adults ages 18 and up of all identities and backgrounds\nWhen: Tuesday\, October 21 from 6-7:30pm\nWhere: Kalamazoo Therapy Group\, 1901 Parkview Avenue\nCost: Pay what you can from $20-60\nFacilitated by: Kelsey Nimmo\, LMFT\, LPC\nSeats available: 8 (therefore registration is required for this event)\n\nTo register…\nPlease complete the form below. We’ll set up a secure client portal for you using your date of birth where you can complete registration. Please note that your seat is not reserved for this event until you have completed the documents in your client portal. \n\n\n \n\n\n\n\nFirst and last name (required)\n\n \nEmail address (required)\n\n \nDate of birth (Required to set up your portal for registration)\n\n \nWhat are you able to pay for this event? (Required. Pay what you can between $20 and $60)\n\n \nWhat are you most looking forward to in participating in this group? (required)\n\n \nHow did you hear about this event? (required)\n\n \nSign me up for the newsletter!\n \nPlease leave this field empty.\n \n\n\n Δ\n \n\n\n\nWhat happens in the group\nEach month\, we will gather for 90 minutes in a small\, supportive circle of people who know the raw\, tender\, and oftentimes illuminating experience of grief. Together\, we will create a sacred and confidential container where grief can be expressed\, and safely held. \nWhatever you are grieving—whether a person\, event\, identity\, or experience—this group offers uninterrupted room to honor your loss and gently tend to the changes unfolding within you. \nIn each gathering\, we will…\n\nEnter a quiet\, still space for contemplation and breathwork.\nBegin with a reading related to grief\, which may include psychoeducation\, poetry\, creative narrative\, or something else.\nHold a container for open sharing\, without response\, from those who wish to speak. Sometimes bearing witness to grief can be healing in itself-there is never pressure to share aloud.\nAt times engage in a narrative or art therapy activity to support grief processing and healing.\nIf time allows\, open to a group discussion on themes that arise\, with the intention of connecting in the raw experience of grief\, rather than dissecting the content of the grief.\nClose with an optional water-and-fire ceremony for releasing. Ritual can be a powerful way of tending grief\, but participation is always optional\, and may also be done privately\, in your own way.\n\nThis group might be for you if…\n\nYou are living with a significant loss—whether the death of a loved one\, the end of a relationship\, a chronic illness\, the loss of a job or role that shaped your identity\, releasing a dream you’ve held\, sorrow for suffering in the wider world\, or something else deeply personal.\nYou feel overwhelmed\, with emotions just beneath the surface\, and long for space to let them arise.\nYou have been grieving on your own and seek the support of community. Grief can feel profoundly lonely—even though it is part of our shared human experience.\n\nWhat you’ll walk away with…\n\nA clearer understanding and appreciation of grief’s tender yet powerful transformative nature.\nA sense of community and connection through shared human experience.\nInsight into the many faces and phases of grief: as deep sorrow\, overwhelming anger\, raw expansion and openness\, flat listlessness\, beautiful awe\, or something uniquely your own.\n\nAbout the facilitator\nKelsey Nimmo is a Marriage and Family Therapist\, Certified Sex Therapist\, and tender of grief. She has spent years experiencing\, studying\, and learning how to hold and honor the deeply transformative power of grief within herself and her clients. \nKelsey believes that to create and hold space for grief (big and small) is one of the most important things we can do in seeking wholeness and healing within ourselves. She wishes that we\, as many other cultures\, prioritized a ritual to honor the transitions we are experiencing—each of which bring forward a face of grief if we allow it. \nWhile we often think of grief as a narrow list of life events\, Kelsey believes that grief arises in us on a daily basis\, is cumulative\, and if untended\, eats away at our soul. She has a deep respect and reverence for the many expressions of grief and is looking forward to holding space with other humans who are on their journeys to finding more healing and wholeness.

SUMMARY:Doing What Matters: A Group for Young Adults Who Feel a Little Lost
DESCRIPTION:If you’re a young adult navigating the weird in-between space of “figuring it out\,” you’re not alone. Maybe you’re finishing school or starting your career. Maybe you’re navigating another life transition that has left you feeling pressure to be fulfilled and independent regardless of your life circumstances. Going through these phases of life will often leave you feeling stuck\, anxious\, and/or unsure of who you want to be. \nWe created “Doing What Matters” for people exactly like you.\nThis 4-week group is grounded in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). This approach helps people make peace with their thoughts\, connect to what truly matters to them\, and take committed action (even when things feel messy or uncertain). \nWhat Happens in the Group?\nEach week\, we’ll gather for 90 minutes in a small\, supportive circle of other young adults who also feel like they’re carrying a lot internally. Together\, we’ll explore things like: \n\nWho am I\, really? And what do I value?\nWhat keeps me stuck or self-sabotaging?\nHow can I get distance from unhelpful thoughts that seem to run the show?\nWhat would it look like to take a small step toward the life I want and the person I want to be?\n\nEach session includes:\n\nCheck-ins & grounding practices\nHands-on activities\nReal conversations—no pressure to perform\, just space to show up\nReflections and takeaways you can carry into your week\n\nYou don’t need to “have it all figured out” to join. You just need to be willing to show up and get curious about yourself. \nThis Group Might Be for You\nIf you… \n\nFeel overwhelmed by your own thoughts or expectations\nStruggle with indecision and emotional avoidance\nWant to feel more grounded and less lost\nCrave a space where you can be honest\, seen\, and supported\n\nWhat You’ll Walk Away With\nBy the end of 4 weeks\, you’ll have: \n\nGreater awareness of what actually matters to you (not just what’s expected of you)\nTools to pause\, reflect\, and choose more aligned actions\nPractice separating yourself from inner criticism or anxious spirals\nA group of peers who get it\n\nYou won’t leave with a “fix”—because you’re not broken. But you will leave with clarity\, connection\, and some next steps that feel true to you. \nDetails\nWho: Young adults (ages 18 – 29) of all identities and backgrounds \nWhen: September 8th – September 29th / Mondays\, 12pm-1:30pm \nWhere: Kalamazoo Therapy Group \nCost: Sliding scale cost of $5-$60 \nFacilitated by: Carly Jacobs (supervised by Kelsey Nimmo) \nReady to Join Us?\nSpots are limited to 8 members so we can keep things personal and connected \nWe want this group to be accessible to everyone regardless of financial circumstances. If you’re able\, contributing more helps us offer future groups to others who may need extra support. We appreciate your generosity and desire to build community. \nPayment Options:\n\n$60 ($10 per hour)\n$30 ($5 per hour)\n$15 ($2.50 per hour)\n$5 (<$1 per hour)\n\nRegister\n\n\n \n\n\n\nTo register for this event\, please provide the following information.
